Installing a hexagonal slip-on — the ten-minute checklist

A practical walkthrough for fitting an ECE-homologated hexagonal slip-on to a modern sportbike: tools, torque figures and the mistakes to avoid.

A homologated slip-on is designed as plug-and-play: the OEM header stays on the bike, and the new muffler bolts to the existing flange with a supplied clamp.

In practice the fit is quick but the sequence matters — lightly seat the clamp, align the muffler to the pillion peg bracket, then torque in the order specified in the PDF instructions before releasing the header strap.

The most common issue we see is over-torqueing the clamp before final alignment, which distorts the sealing surface and produces a small leak that only shows up at idle.

Demo guide — always follow the installation PDF that ships with your specific product.
